Meanwhile, an Alien game came out that not only captured the feel of the iconic film, but even improved on it. Where do titles like those stand when ranking the best games of 2014? And just to clear up any misconceptions, 2014 isn't over yet, so we won't be crowning any of these new games with the prestigious of "Game of the Year" moniker just yet. Instead, we're going to be updating this article with the best new releases gaming has to offer each month leading up to our year-end awards. It doesn't matter if the month's releases are indie games or triple-A blockbusters, everything will get a fair shake. So, without further ado, here are the best games of September 2014, followed by the winners from the previous months. Bayonetta 2 (Runner-up Best Game of October) Bayonetta 2 is brilliant on so many levels. Technically, it's a showcase for the Wii U as Nintendo's supposedly under-powered machine chucks around beautiful, SFX-laden, high-res visuals at 60fps. Artistically, it's way ahead of most video games' design, with over-the top action, bosses, and cinematics. But crucially, it's also brilliantly playable, with the original game's ultra-precise, combo-tastic brawling action returning unbutchered, complete with its trademark Pure Platinum ranking to strive for. There's also a new two-player co-op mode, where you and a buddy team up over the internet to take on waves of enemies in closed arena matches. It's great fun. The sum is a brilliant package that any Wii U owner should buy. Granted, it can occasionally get too hectic to see what's happening, and the first half of the game is definitely underwhelming compared to the rip-roaring climax (or is that Umbran Climax?). But seeing as you can buy it with the original, near-perfect Bayonetta packed-in, it's pretty much impossible not to recommend this to anyone in need of a badass action game. Alien: Isolation (Best Game of October) Alien: Isolation is a game-changer. In terms of stealth gameplay, game design technology, visual fidelity, and the purpose and potential of licensed video games, it is both evolution and revolution. Its recreation of the Alien universe circa Ridley Scott’s first film is aesthetically flawless, but the authenticity goes much deeper than that. The tone, and sheer feel are 100% there, a feat not previously achieved in the entire 35 years since the film was released. As much a total-immersion simulation of the movie, to Alien fans, Isolation provides more than a game, delivering a surreal and rather profound portal into a fully-realized cinematic world previously uninhabitable. Isolation’s gameplay follows suit, eschewing the conventional softened edges of the horror adaptation to create a truly uncompromising threat in its living, breathing, deeply sophisticated, AI-driven Alien. This isn’t a game of held hands, safety nets, and protagonist privileges. It’s as brutal and nihilistic to the player as the Alien universe is to its characters. That’s a brave move, but the right one, and one that is also ultimately entirely triumphant. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (Runner-up Best Game of September) No, you're not dreaming--a game revolving around The Lord of the Rings is actually in the running for Game of the Year. Of course, you don't have to be a Tolkien fan to appreciate this self-contained, open-world adventure, because it's got all the gloriously violent action and tactical stealth a gamer could want. As Talion, a Ranger out for revenge with the powers of an ancient Wraith on his side, it's your job to whittle down Sauron's Army of Orc grunts and Uruk Warchiefs, one body at a time. The world of Shadow of Mordor is vast and varied, with as many picturesque plains as barren wastelands. But nothing tops the variety of the brilliant Nemesis system, which randomly generates the Uruk who oppose you with unique personality traits, strengths, and weaknesses. Should you die by their hand, they'll get a promotion, while you'll be left hungry for revenge, determined to find your rival and kill him (for real this time). It's an addicting gameplay loop on top of an excellent foundation, making Shadow of Mordor one of the fall's must-play games.

Young woman from Lucknow, Shuchita Kishore, who got 39th position in the Civil Services Exam 2010. Shuchita’s is the story of an ordinary but determined girl. Drawing her inspiration from the interviews of IAS toppers and closely following their advice, this young woman from Lucknow finally realised her dream of becoming a civil servant in her third attempt. Shuchita means pure, simple and honest. That’s exactly how this slim and tall young woman of 27 comes across as she makes an effort to smile in front of the camera. Thoughtful and composed in her Salwar Kurta, the 39th ranker in the UPSC Civil Services exam 2010 opines that diplomacy must precede military action as she hopes to become an IFS officer. One of the four daughters of retired UP government official Mr RK Srivastava, Shuchita could not clear the Prelims in her first attempt at the UPSC due to lack of proper guidance. The second attempt was encouraging as she managed to reach the interview stage. Finally in 2011, Shuchita’s efforts paid off as she secured 39th rank in the Civil Services exam 2010. The hard work clearly reflects in her eyes as she recalls, “It was not that easy to go in for three consecutive attempts but I derived strength from my belief in God.” As she pursues her PhD in English Literature from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, Shuchita takes pride in showing the copies of IAS interviews that she read way back in 2004 in Jagran Josh. The young diplomat in the making first decided to be a civil servant when she was in class 7 and considers 1996 UPSC topper Mr Iqbal Singh Dhaliwal and 2005 UPSC topper Mona Pruthi her role models. Shuchita loves reading literature and quizzing is her favourite hobby. Education Shuchita Kishore went through schooling in Lucknow where she scored 89% and 86% in her class 10 and 12 exams. She then joined Lucknow University from where she completed her BA in Political Science and English Literature with 67%. On graduating from the Lucknow University, she moved to New Delhi to do her Masters in English Literature from JNU. She is currently pursuing her PhD from the JNU itself, the library of which is popularly known as the UPSC hall. Shuchita recognises the importance of educational institutions known for excellence but does not shy away from saying, “It’s not the institutions that make individuals. It’s the people who make institutions.”

 The comeback man Rohit Sharma became the first batsman to score two double centuries during the fourth ODI against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Thursday.

In the 46th over of the innings, Rohit hit a four off Kulasekara to reach his double century.

Rohit Sharma was batting on 222, the highest score in ODIs, eclipsing Sehwag's 219, off just 155 balls with 27 fours and six huge sixes. His previous double century came at Bengaluru against Australia. India's score is 357 for 4 in 46.3 overs.

At the end of 50 overs, India scored a mammoth 404 for 5. Rohit Sharma was out off the final ball of the innings. Rohit was caught by Jayawardene off the bowling of Kulasekara for 264 off just 173 balls with 33 fours and 9 huge sixes.

Rohit: 'No, not really. I am coming from a 2 months break (when enquired if he was tired). I was ready to bat another 50 overs. Once I got to 50, I knew I had to come good. It was a good batting wicket. We know even 350 is chaseable under lights here. I converted 100 into 150 and 200, then 250. It is important to look at the team score, you need to know how the team stands. It is really important to think while batting. That's what I did. I made my Ranji Trophy debut here. I got a hundred on my Test debut here, I scored an Indian T20 League hundred here as well.'
What a comeback by Rohit! He has been given a guard of honour by his team-mates. I have just run out of the superlatives to describe the innings, but will try to do my best. He started off in a scratchy manner. He was put down on 4 by Thisara (Perera), but once he got through the initial stages, he started middling the ball. In fact, he was 6(20) at one stage. The boundaries started to flow and he kept toying with the bowling. His first 50 took 72 balls, the next 214 runs came off 101 balls. The boundaries seemed very short for him and the bowling looked ordinary when he got going. He went past plenty of milestones, none more significant than scoring his second double hundred.
